In a world inundated with viral moments, the Baltimore rapper Shordie Shordie makes music that people go back to. An albums artist to his core, Shordie sifts through hundreds of songs to meticulously curate projects made to last a lifetime. For his dedicated fans, Shordie’s albums mark years of their lives—even as the years go by, they bring the music with them. Shordie made his first major break with “Bitchuary” (Betchua) in 2018, a now two-times platinum record with over 260 million streams that made him the first Baltimore artist to ever earn a platinum plaque.

Saxsquatch

"Saxsquatch is a 7’ tall multi-instrumentalist, producer, and electronic music artist from North Carolina.

He has accumulated over 3 million followers online through releasing music with legends such as John Oates, Billy Ray Cyrus, the band WAR, and songs with the infamous electronic music label Monstercat. In 2021, Saxsquatch created theme music for Rocket League, and the following year had music featured in Fortnite. Saxsquatch has been trending on Rolling Stone’s website and on the front page of Forbes for his music releases.

Michael Marcagi

"Cincinnati singer-songwriter Michael Marcagi’s ascent is a homegrown success story. With a career built largely through grassroots social media support, the folk-rock singer has demonstrated that listeners are hungry for earnest storytelling rooted in age-old American musical traditions. Marcagi announced himself with “The Other Side,” a depiction of the claustrophobia of small-town life, but it was his cinematic tribute to taking a leap of faith— “Scared to Start” —that pushed his TikTok view counts into the millions.

Magic City Hippies

Magic City Hippies initially floated onto the scene as Robby Hunter Band, but stumbled into their true identity in 2015 when their album Magic City Hippies gave them a fresh sound and a new name. Fusing Miami’s sunshine-soaked funk with an after-hours swagger, they’ve since captivated audiences worldwide, from intimate clubs to the stages of Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits, and Lollapalooza.

WOW Hall 50th Anniversary Fundraiser

On Saturday, Jan. 11th, Community Center for the Performing Arts presents a 50th anniversary fundraiser for the WOW Hall and performance of Defiance by the Wallflower Order and Dance Brigade, along with musical performances by Holly Near and Ferron, at the WOW Hall.Dance Brigade is partnering with the WOW Hall for a WOW’s 50th anniversary fundraising event on Saturday, Jan.

Tall Heights

Tall Heights wants to share a moment with you. A moment in New England, a moment on Earth. With their 2024 release, Softly Softly, Paul Wright (cello/vocals) and Tim Harrington (guitar/vocals) reject isolation; both the universal experience of the early 2020s, and its sound recording definition where different instruments are recorded separately. Harrington explains, “The opposite of isolation in recording is bleed, where you hear the drums and guitar through the vocal mic because everything is happening in the same room. It’s risky because you can’t easily change it later.

Cupcakke

Elizabeth Eden Harris (born May 31, 1997), known as “CupcakKe”,  is a rapper and songwriter born and raised in Chicago. Elizabeth began rapping at the age of 14, starting off doing church poetry, she received the nickname “CupcakKe’‘ and she later began to rap. 

Nekromantix

One of the wilder bands operating in the psychobilly genre, Nekromantix employ a lethal blend of punk rock and rockabilly with a horror-themed twist. Emerging in the late 1980s, the Danish-American rockers led by founder, frontman, and sole constant member Kim Nekroman delighted European audiences in the ’90s with their monster-fueled antics, before bringing their unique sound and style overseas in the 2000s.

Perfect Giddimani

Perfect Giddimani was born Greg Rose in Bamboo, St Ann, Jamaica and like many reggae artists his mother sang in church, and his grandfather also had a banjo band, so he was exposed to music from birth. His father was an electrical repairman and among the many things he repaired were jukeboxes. Some of the jukeboxes were left behind by the customers and his father rigged one special jukebox so that Greg and his siblings could play it without having to insert money.
